I'm being slammed by uni assignments, so here's an older behind the scenes pic of me working on Jessica's beautiful face for a 1940's themed shoot we did last year. What products can you spot on the table?? (You can see the final result about 4 posts ago) @jessapeanut @anastasiabeverlyhills @spectrumcollection @kryolanofficial @kryolanaustralia @nyxcosmetics @nyxcosmetics_australia

🌼DIY Reusable Cotton Pads🌼 We often ignore how wasteful our makeup and beauty routines can, both personally and in a larger professional sense. Plastic packaging, cotton pads, disposable applicators, Q-tips, spoolies and sample jars all contribute to the pollution of our planet. Since I’m actively trying to reduce the amount of waste that I create, I thought it would be good to audit my beauty routine to see what “disposable” items I could eliminate in favour of an more eco-friendly solution. First on the list: Cotton Pads! I’m very guilty of coming home late (and drunk) and not giving a damn about taking my makeup off, instead favouring to smear a micellar water-soaked cotton pad around my face until I feel that I can go to bed guilt free. Because of this, I go through A LOT of cotton pads, which is both costly and not ideal for our environment. So, here we go! 🌼How to make your own cotton pads:🌼 1. Grab some soft pyjama fabric. I picked this huge piece up from @savers_au for about $2. You’ll know which material is right by touch. 2. Trace some circles onto the material and cut them out, ensuring you have an even number of circles. 3. Grab two circles and place them wrong sides together (so the pattern is on the outside of both pieces) 4. Using a sewing machine (or a needle and thread) sew the perimeter of the circles together. The closer you get to the edge the better! I used a different type of stitch on almost every pad, so it doesn’t matter what stitch type you choose. 5. Optional: Once the whole circle has been sewn together, cut away the excess (you can keep these scraps for other projects) To clean, either hand wash or machine wash them in a delicates bag so that the monster that eats your socks doesn’t eat your cotton pads too! Yeah sure, it’s a damn simple DIY, but it’s a move towards a less wasteful life so why not give it a go.

(Long post, but please read!) Happy 2019! I hope you all had an amazing festive season!🎉 I wanna start out by apologising for my absence from Instagram and Facebook for the past few months, I’ve missed ya! This year, I’ve decided that I want to do things a little bit differently. Over the past few years, I’ve been noticing that every makeup look I see online is a slightly different version of the same look; overdrawn lips, cut creases, heavy contour, you know the one. I felt that these were the guidelines that I had to follow in order to be successful as a makeup artist, but in trying to follow all of these trends, I burned out hard. Sure, it’s super easy to rack up internet points with a Smokey eye, bold lip and sharp wing, but what’s the point if you’re just recreating the same shit everyone else has done and you’re not creating anything new? Is it even worth it if you’re just chasing clout? This year, I’m leaving all of that behind. I’m not going to pretend that I love doing full-glam and bridal looks, because I really don’t and from here on in I’ll only be working on looks and projects that I’m personally interested in. This year I won’t be creating the same shit that comes up post-after-post on your explore feed. There will be no highlighted nose-tips, no carved out brows, no bullshit. I want to bring you more art, more mess, more creativity and inspiration. Be prepared to see colours, patterns, experimentation and blood. Makeup is an art and I’m done with pretending that in order to be successful you need to follow the “instamakeup” guidelines. If you’re down to see some dumb, fun, messy shit, please stick around! I promise it’s going to be a good time!
