Client highlight @akacedon is a young strong stud! We have been only working together for about 2 months and wanted to learn how to lift weights to get ready for his freshmen year of high school football. In the beginning he didn’t know how to deadlift so we worked in his form. That day we decided to see how his form improved because he was getting stronger. So that day he brought the fuego he went in and deadlifted the heaviest kettlebell that we have at #equinoxbethesda which is 150lbs!! He didn’t do just one he did 5 reps like a boss!! Side Press 60 kg 🔥🔥🔥 _________ Po pierwszym podejściu mogłem ciężar odłożyć i zacząć robić coś innego, po drugim podejściu już wiedziałem, że wykonam to zadanie. Siła to dziwna umiejętność i nie jest zero jedynkowa☝️ trzeba jej się też nauczyć 😉 zawsze w danym momencie można coś poprawić 💪 w ciągu tych 3 podejść, które zrobiłem w trakcie 5 minut kilka rzeczy poprawiłem a przecież moja siła się nie zmieniła 🤔 do 14 września opanuje ten ciężar do #militarypress 🎯 ___________ @strongforlife.program @bronislawolenkowicz @kamil.kozlovski ___________ #press #side #strict #strictpress #competition #kettlebell #kettlebells #gym #training #strong #strongfirst #strength #power #lifting #strongforlife

Some of you may know that I had shoulder surgery back in February. Rotator cuff repair and cleaned up some arthritis in my AC, reshaped my type-2 Acromion process to a type-1, removed my coacoracromial ligament, and shaved 10mm of my clavicle. I was constantly chasing mass and neglected recovery and my joint health in the process. I was already spending 1.5 hours lifting (tons of volume) plus 30-45 min of cardio, I didn’t want to spend 20-30 minutes also working on my mobility. It seemed like a waste of time. I started to get achy and more sore than usual. I thought I was doing something right because I was seeing results in size. I also thought that pain was just part of the deal. Until one day I couldn’t raise my hand higher than my waistline. 💩 I thought, this ain’t good. Since then, I have realized how important it is to include mobility and stability work into a strength training regimen. I’ve also seen even more strength and more size now that I spend about 1/3 of my time on my joint health. Not just shoulders, ALL my joints!

What a difference a year makes! The first few images show the building before we moved in and as the work progressed to the set up we have now. We are feeling really proud of our community gym which was and still is the result of people coming together and committing their time and resources. Thank you to everyone who helped to move all of the equipment....paint, clean, install floors, provide electrics, install toilet facilities - complete building, plastering, joinery, transport, provide skips, hardcore, signage etc. Again, we want to say a massive thank you to everyone who helped this time last year and throughout. There are probably too many people to tag but you all know who you are! ⭐️ We would also like to thank the fantastic PTs @ironsoldierfitness @grimreapertraining @fitnesshubstoke who bring new clients, expertise, equipment, experience and a variety of classes to the gym. MEET YOURSELF WHERE YOU ARE. One thing that often happens in the realm of fat loss and fitness (ahem, EVERYWHERE!!) is ALL OR NOTHING thinking. We often go for broke, or we rationalize not trying. Both extremes aren’t useful or sustainable (especially if we ACTUALLY want what we say we want). What often happens when someone is ready to start a new chapter, they want the result YESTERDAY. So they hit things HARD. Restrictive eating. Intense workouts. Until their biology buckles &/or their body breaks down in some form or fashion. Leading to a heck of a lot of nothing. As a recovering ALL OR NOTHING thinker I’d like to share my own perspective shift which is serving me infinitely better as of the recent past. As someone who was sleep deprived on the day this was videoed, I entered this workout cautiously. I decided that I would indeed lift as I aim to do that 2xs a week, & this would be the only opportunity to do it. I didn’t criticize myself for not being able to do the more agile & acrobatic (donkey kicks into the air) warmup that I typically do for weight work. I did my little booty building exercises that are relatively low impact first. I still used challenging weight, but I interrupted sets in order to rest as needed. I didn’t try to do MORE cardio as I wasn’t going to be working out traditionally for the next few days (walking in NYC & volunteering for long hours only). I didn’t try to under-eat to deal w my long past anxiety of working out less, & I also didn’t OVEREAT to deal w my anxiety about less exercise (crazy, but a lot of us do that). I aimed to relax. Know that I can trust myself. That I can trust my body. & that when I do, everything feels & looks GREAT. Saturday snatchin ✊🏽 Hey everyone, I did a compound based workout this morning of 100 swings (24kg), snatches (12kg) and 30 presses (16kg) 🐒 The reason I'm only uploading footage of this exercise is because my aim is to build up to do the @strongfirst 5 minute snatch test (100 snatches with a weight based on your weight category) with a 20kg kettlebell. A life goal of mine is to become certified with Strong First. I love my gym @chuzefitness This is my happy place, where I unplug for about 90 mins and work on my #mindset and to become a better version of myself. I’m #grateful I found a place that i can be my weird self and no ones cares cause they are too busy on their own journey.My gym is clean, is friendly and even tho I don’t talk to many while there , I always exchange a smile to a few and here and there we compliment each other. But it doesn’t have to be if you use a few of these tips 👇 . - Order meals that are easily trackable. - Choose grilled meats/fish and ask for them to be cooked without oil/butter. - Have a baked potato (without butter) or steamed rice instead of fries, mashed potatoes or fried rice. - Have a salad and ask for the dressing to be put on the side. - Don’t have a meal with too many parts to it....this can be a nightmare to track. - Don’t have a meal that has a sauce. It’s impossible to know exactly what is in a sauce or dressing. - Skip the starter and just eat a main meal. - Skip dessert and just eat a main meal. - Don’t drink your calories whilst you eat 🍸 🍹 🍷 . Going out to eat whilst dieting can be a nightmare for some people. But it doesn’t have to be if you use a few of these tips 👇

Park run done 🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏻‍♂️ I was so surprised but happy to hear the words ‘I’m glad I did that!!’ from the mouth of my tweenage son!!
